RUNSHARPER provides individual coaching for track and road runners through hands-on training, workout design, training plans, performance monitoring, and strength training advice.

Athletes receive personal attention from Sam Sharp, a USATF Level 2 certified endurance events coach devoted to your success and wellbeing. Whether you are new to running or experienced but looking to boost your performance, Sam will work closely with you to design a custom, individualized program to help you meet your goals and get the most from your training.

Sam also conducts in-person sessions in the Washington, DC metro area, usually in Arlington, Alexandria, or elsewhere in Northern Virginia. Discounted rates are available for military personnel and public servants needing to pass PFT requirements. Sam has successfully worked with Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, FBI, and State Department personnel.

At Wakefield High School, Sam has coached distance runners and triple jumpers to several school records, state championship meet medals, and national championship qualifying marks. He was voted 2023 Liberty District Coach of the Year for Boys Track & Field.

Beyond distance running, Sam has worked with dozens of high school and NCAA team sport athletes to develop sound running mechanics, strength, speed, agility, and endurance to improve their sport performance. In addition to his USATF Level 2 status, Sam is a certified (1) Speed & Agility Coach by the National Sports Performance Association; (2) Jumping Events Specialist by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA); and (3) USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning Coach.

  • Free initial goal setting meeting

  • Monthly training plan provided through TrainingPeaks

  • Daily performance monitoring and training plan adjustments

  • Unlimited coach contact (phone, text, email)

  • Access to Athletes Only articles with training tips and advice

  • Discounts on in-person sessions in the Washington, DC metro area

  • Track Events to Half-Marathon = $90/month

  • Marathon = $125.00/month

ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS

  • In-person session for workout guidance, running form analysis, and/or strength work ($125/session)

    • I run these workouts with you and pace you through the right splits.

  • Video session ($40/hr)

    • Good option if you want a second opinion on your current training plan or have specific training questions you need a coach to address

    • No charge for sessions discussing whether you want to join a monthly program

COACH-FREE PLAN

  • If you need a training plan but don’t want full-on coaching help, RUNSHARPER is happy to help. Custom 5K-10K plans are $50. Half-marathon plans are $75. Cost includes a video call to discuss goals, prior history, and training constraints.

  • I don’t create coach-free marathon plans because they are not worth your money. Marathon training requires lots of flexibility, and I discourage anyone from paying for a long plan that they won’t be able to follow for the full plan duration. It’s much better to invest in a coach.
